finally. the before and afters of our house!

so this is going to be the best post ever. mostly because it's me bragging about how cool i think my new house is. which is allowed, because let me tell you a little something. my AWESOME and sexy ginger husband, Ty, basically built this little puppy with his own freckled hands. His dad (my father-in-law (don't know why i feel the need to specify the obvious, but i do)) helped out a lot and let us borrow some of the workers on the ranch who have done construction before, work alongside Ty, but basically, there were no professionals, no registered constructionists, or contractors involved. Just a ginger and some mexicans. :) (please do not take my words offensively, I don't know why i feel as if people would or even should for that matter, because I do not take offense to American, cracker, or even to bitchy white ass, so therefore, I, ME, find it offensive that you would take my words offensive. there. that should clear up any misinterpretations.)
Anyways, I think I've pretty much outlined that the house is in Syracuse, Kansas..blah blah blah, so here we go with the pictures. I'll throw in some before pictures as well as some construction ones, just so you can see the process, and of course, the finished pictures. I do want to say and warn to all those of you who live close to a Pier 1, an Anthropologie, a West Elm, a Crate and Barrel, a freaking K-Mart, for crying out loud, and all other home decorating stores, I DO NOT. Therefore, i have not even come close to finishing the final touches or hanging pictures or all that jazz. Also, no outside work has been done, such as, the concrete work, a fence is still missing, and we have no landscaping of any sort. And last but not least, the garage, where we park, has not been 100% completed.

Let's start with the outside of the house. Not much changed because we kept the initial structure and only really redid everything on the inside. There are a few changes to the outside. We basically thrashed the yards, both front and back with tractors and materials, which will eventually be great, when we start landscaping. also, we had to completely redo the roof. which ty did with 3 helpers, and they finished it in 2 weeks for 1/4 the price the cheapest price that we were quoted. Last but not least, in the pictures you can't tell very well, but the trim and roof were once green, but now the roof is a charcoal and the trim/shutters are black. We also repainted the house, just the same white, so it may or may not look very different. oh ya, and we got new windows....did i mention that already?

                                                                   FRONT OF HOUSE
                                                                           BEFORE

AFTER

This is the side of the house, and because our house is on a corner, it kind of has two fronts... considering the picture above is a front, and since our front door faces to the side, that becomes a 'front' side as well.
SIDE OF HOUSE
BEFORE

AFTER
so basically only difference is new paint, and if you can tell, we had to move the far left window on this side over about 6 inches. Also, we took out the awesome fake mini golf grass that was on the front porch. haha

BACK OF HOUSE
BEFORE

DURING
this is Ty (white shirt) and the guys working on the roof

almost done....

AFTER
obviously, we haven't put all the construction stuff away quite yet, but it's basically just in the yard waiting to go back to the ranch

OTHER SIDE OF HOUSE
AFTER only (never got a before, because it's the boring side)
so we are putting up a fence to block off this side from the place next door... as you can see their DIY stairs and AC unit.  :)

GARAGE
BEFORE

The garage had a ton of water damage, hardly any light, and no finished walls on the inside. We are still working on the inside, but got the electricity ran through, as well as hooked up the room in the garage for water since that is now our laundry room.

AFTER

WOO HOO. new garage doors too. :)

INSIDE OF GARAGE
BEFORE

DURING
(not putting up an 'after' because it's not done, so i'll throw them up later. But the during is basically, the current.

off to the left of the picture above, is the garage room...aka laundry room...so

GARAGE/LAUNDRY ROOM
BEFORE

boring. gross, holey walls and cement floors.

AFTER/CURRENT
we are still in the process of figuring out storage ideas and what not to make it look better, but this is what it looks like right now.

OK, NOW FOR THE EXCITING STUFF: THE INSIDE OF THE HOUSE!!!

GUEST BATHROOM
BEFORE

So it wasn't even a bathroom before, it was just some random area off the kitchen, with torn down walls and cement floors...and that cabinet....wtf? right?. that's what we thought.

DURING
basically, this was done with a hammer....so...anger management therapy. :)

AFTER
so we built back the original walls that had been torn out, hooked up water, added a sink and cabinet (and an upper cabinet w/ a mirror, hooked up electricity for outlets, hooked up recessed lighting and vanity lighting, and put in new flooring.

KITCHEN
BEFORE

so, not too bad, but it was kinda gross and old, and since a lot of the piping was ruined and we had new appliances, we figured, what the hell, and redid it as well. Plus, the plumbing was eroded and the ceiling had water damage, and the floors had water damage... so why not.

DURING

AFTER

woohoo. sorry the full picture gets kinda ruined by the light from the window.
